United Women in Faith
General Meetings are held the second Wednesday of the month.
The women of the church meet each month, except July, seeking spiritual growth, creative fellowship, and mission to women, children, and youth around the world who need help in so many ways. This help is channeled through the Global Ministries of the Church.
United Women in Faith's Purpose: The organized unit of United Women in Faith shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship, and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the Church. Our heritage is one of sacrifice, witness, and service.
Deborah Circle meets the 3rd Wed of the month at 9:30 AM.
Deborah was a decisive, confident, adventuresome woman who was able to motivate people to become involved in affairs which directly affected their lives. She rose to great leadership because she trusted God implicitly and because she could inspire in others the same trust.
The Elizabeth Circle meets at 1:00 PM on the fourth Tuesday of each month from January through May and from August through December. We meet in a member’s home or in the Krause Room at the church. In June and July, we plan special outings. Following the meeting, an informative program, refreshments, and fellowship are enjoyed.
New members are welcome! For more information, contact UWF membership chair Karen Milton at 618-971-5079 or sewwutt4@aol.com
Elizabeth was the mother of John the Baptist, wife of Zacharias, and cousin of Mary, mother of Jesus. She was the first to greet Mary as mother of the Messiah when Mary arrived to spend three months with her before Jesus was born. Throughout the ages, Elizabeth has rightly been remembered as an outstanding, noble mother.
Lydia Circle is named after Lydia who was a strong supporter of the Apostle Paul. She was a successful businesswoman who found God through Paul’s preaching, and opened her home and resources for his use. She was known as a seller of purple cloth.
By naming our Circle after Lydia, we hope to remind ourselves that even though we get caught up in all the hustle and bustle of our society, we can never neglect our faith. And we should strive to help others grow in their faith.
Lydia Circle meets once a month throughout the school year. Currently, we meet on the third Monday of the month at 6:30 PM.
The Mary Circle meets on the third Sunday of each month at 10:30 AM.
Mary: We affirm her role in God’s gift of Christ to the world – being the mother of Jesus, her care and nurture of Him and her being a disciple.
Luke 1:46 – 55
The UMW Miriam Circle meets on the fourth Friday of each month at 1:00 PM in the Krause Meeting Room at Church.
A dessert luncheon is served, a short business meeting is conducted, and a program presented. Fellowship time follows.
The Circle is named after Miriam, the brilliant, courageous, sister of Moses. As a young girl she showed great characteristics of leadership. Miriam was favored by God with the gift of prophecy. She was recognized as the first intellectual woman of the Hebrew race. She heads the roll of a multitude of devout women who have given themselves without measure for the betterment of humanity.
This is what our circle strives to do. Our mission is to help women and children locally and throughout the world through our mission work.
Ruth Circle meets every Thursday to quilt from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM.
Who was Ruth? Ruth left her own land of Moab and went with her mother-in-law Naomi to Bethlehem. She supported both of them with her gleanings from barley in the field of Boaz, whom she later married. Their son Obed is the grandfather of King David. Her love and devotion to Naomi is among the most touching stories in the Bible. Ruth was loved by all and her abiding love shed its rays, like sunlight, on all whom it touched.
Bring a lunch and join in!
