Rev. Dr. Steve Heitkamp, D.Min, LCPC (Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor) , American Association of Pastoral Counselors, AAPC Fellow; is appointed by the Bishop of the Illinois Great Rivers Conference as pastoral counselor, psychotherapist and Executive Director of Horizon Hope Counseling, Inc. Rev. Heitkamp provides counseling and psychotherapy to Individuals, Couples, Children and Families. He is an ordained Elder in Full connection in the United Methodist Church and pastored congregations for many years. At the heart of his counseling is the pastoral experience he brings to the persons he sits with.

Educational Profile

Steve’s educational background includes receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Asbury College in 1987, and a Masters of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary in 1991. He received a Doctorate in Ministry Degree in Pastoral Counseling and Psychotherapy from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 2002, and completed a three year residency at Care and Counseling in St Louis.

Prior to being director of Horizon Hope Counseling, Dr. Heitkamp had been with Care and Counseling Inc. since 1999 and served as Director of Training for the Agency until September 2008. His duties as Director of Training for the Post Graduate Training Program included assisting clergy and therapists develop and deepen skills for counseling and families within the area. Personal Profile:

Steve has been married to Mindy for 25 years and they have two daughters Brynn 21 and Shelby 17. They live in Shiloh, Illinois.
